    Rubbish. With most other brands, you don't get on site service - or it might be the EXACT SAME GUY doing the service, because Brand X uses the same service company in your area. Dell (like Lenovo, HP, etc) contracts out the field work - and not all technicans are created equal. Mark it down to "sh*t happens"

    I have a similar problem with my laptop D830 laptop. I wanted to ask you how you have recognized if the problem is with the inverter or the lamp of the screen was damaged?

    The only way would be replacing the LCD or the inverter. Backlights are usually part of the LCD and cannot be readily replaced.
