    Hey.

Dell Latitude E5420 stutter sound? How to fix?

I just bought this new laptop, and when listing to music on headphones and running VLC, the sound sometime stutters.....there are no heavy processes going on to cause the stutter the voice....

Anyone know how this can be fixed?

    Thanks.

Guessing it's the latency issue which is caused by the card reader. Go into Power Option, Dell Enhanced Settings, disable Media cards and 1394 devices...

    Very vague. Things to check:

    - Verify the music track actually decodes properly under VLC on another PC. Does this happen every time with the same file? Have you tried Windows Media Player?
    - What type of headphones are these? Regular 3.5mm or USB? USB ones might have issues.
    - What is the source of the file? HDD? Card reader? Internet stream? USB drive/key? CD/DVD drive? Sometimes card readers or USB devices might cause stuttering if you have a lot of USB devices, or if you have a device that is making USB drop down to 1.0 mode. Internet stream might have stuttering if the connection is bad. Bad/scratched disks might not read very well.
