The seller responded, it doesn't have any warranty. Oh well. I was reading around on Google about extending the warranty, but it says it's really expensive and as there is no warranty, you need to get it re-certified. Never mind, it was a good though, but seems as though it's only got to last me til next year, what could possibly go wrong! :)

I plan on building a desktop this year too. So I'll have that and my laptop.

hi i have had the e6400 for 5 months now and agree that build quality is poorer than previous models I have owned. not only are there rubber bumpers the button on the front that releases the screen is so tight that it doesn't allow the screen to pop up as it should. Instead expect to search out the gap with your fingers and prize open the screen from the key board.

Astonishingly I have had trouble with my screen resolution which seems to waiver all by itself. My forst thoughts were that I have set a resolution to cahnge according to light conditions but that wasn't it. I reckon my screen is failing already. Thank god for warranty. What a shocker if that is the case!

Not the dell I thought it used to be. anyone else had this problem?

No. The E-Series build quality is quite fine. Let us know how your warranty repairs worked out.

Ok, I picked it up yesterday. Must say it's nice, pretty light, not built like my old D620 though, but heaps better then any other consumer notebook that I've touched, like my Mums... I can see what people are saying about the bumper things too. All-in-all, I'm pretty happy with it!

That's great to hear, many E6400 are still under warranty (not surprised). There are D630 still under Dell warranty. You might want to see if you can request a warranty extention, it is worth the money.

Yeah, I think I might look into an extension. I'm requested a change of ownership, but because I don't know who the previous owners are I'm not sure how I'll go... Though there was a thread here that one user did it fine. We'll see.
