My new E6510 works great and boots successfully 100% of the time when not on the port replicator. When I put it on the port replicator and power it up, it boots to the WIndows 7 "Please wait" and never goes any further. This is 100% repeatable.

I installed the Microsoft hotfix for KB983551, but it did not solve the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried a known working docking station to rule out your laptop/docking station.

Are you sure you have the PA-4E 130Watt power adapter plugged into the dock?
I doubt the 90 watt will work correctly with the dock

I tried another docking station, and have verified that the power supply is the one that shipped with the docking station. I have tried another user's laptop in my docking station, and it works fine. So, it is not the docking station or power supply, but something peculiar with my machine. I can boot the laptop off the docking station, then put in on the docking station and it works fine. It just wont't boot when on the station.

Okay I would get that sent off to Dell or have a technician go to your home/work and get it looked at.

Not sure if this will help but my son recently had a similar problem when he ran down the battery in his M4300. When he charged it and then placed it on the docking station, it failed to recognize the battery and boot.

If you haven't already, you might try to remove the battery from the laptop for a few seconds and the reinsert. Also unplug the docking station and then plug it back in and see if that helps the situation.

I would love to know what the problem turned out to be. I'm having the exact same problem. My E6510 boots fine off the dock, but when I try to boot it on the dock it flashes the Dell logo, then goes black and won't boot Windows.
