Ok. I have a Dell Latitude E6400 with a wxga(1280x800) screen and i would like the wxga+(1440x900). One problem though i dont have 160 bucks to change it.but i noticed that a E5400 wxga+ screen cost almost half that. So i need to know if a E5400 screen is also compatible with its better E6400. This seems to be an elusive question as I have asked multiple different forums and no one is yet to answer. So please any advise where to ask or any info on this what so ever just post. Thanks

The 1440x900 screen intended for the E6400 is LED backlit, which is why it costs more (it will also require new brackets, cable, LCD cover, and bezel).

The E5400's 1440x900 screen is CCFL, and one of its model #'s is LP141WP1 (also used in D620/D630). I think it should work in an E6400 that had a CCFL screen, but of course, this is only a guess.

Either way, I wouldn't recommend upgrading the LCD though...it's not worth it for 1280x800 to 1440x900.

It's definitely worth it, the difference in resolutions is actually very noticeable, I've used both.

OP: are those the prices Dell quoted for you? or prices you found elsewhere? They seem a bit expensive for 3rd party vendors.

It is worth it from the factory, but not for a system that's approaching three years old...
