    Hello forum users.

Does the Dell M4600 with ATI Firepro M5950 feature something akin to the Nvidia Optimus Technology?
I've researched online and found ATI powerplay (Only downclocks/ Does NOT disable) and dynamic switchable graphics for ATI 6300m or 6400m series chips.

The processor of the Dell is Intel® Core™ i5-2520M (2.50Ghz, 4Threads, turbo boost up to 3.20 GHz, 3MB cache) and as such features built in Intel® HD Graphics 3000 GPU.

Can it be permanently switched to it to save battery life?

    No.

AMD cards dont have switchable gfx on this platform, just dynamic downclock to preserve energy.

    Thanks for the response.

Theres absolutely no way to do it (Custom files, etc)?
What sort of battery life can one hope to acheive on the aforementioned system?

The review in the link uses the Quadro, not the FirePro.

Should be close though, not much of a difference.

Well, except the difference that the Quadro has Optimus and the Firepro does not, which seems to be the OP's question.

I've gotten about 3-3.5 Hr out of the battery with CD drive off and brightness near 0% but with wifi on and mixed usage (mostly browsing with a couple of video sites, coding, etc.)...I have ATI card and 9 cell battery...

That's a far cry from the reviewer's figures...
