Hey everyone, just ordered what looks to be a fairly good deal. An E5420 with i5-2520m, 4GB, HD3000, 250GB, 1600x900, 9 Cell (87W/H 3 Year warranty), 3 Year warranty.

I got the order confirmation today and the service tag of the computer. Apparently it was originally shipped to Austria on the 28th April! There are a few surprises in the "Original system configuration" check they have. Seems like an abnormally long length of time. Does this mean the laptop will be covered with blemishes? What exactly do Dell do when they refurb a laptop? Do they replace any damaged cosmetic components or what?

Also, according to the original system config the system had a carry case, port replicator, external mouse. Will these be included with my outlet order or not? They weren't actually mentioned on the outlet site. Also, the keyboard it originally shipped it is in the Austrian QWERTZ layout. Do they change it to the QWERTY layout prior to shipping or what?

First time buying off the outlet and have no idea what to expect.

My one experience with Dell has been buying a Vostro from their Business Outlet. I ended up returning it because the screen resolution was incorrect due to my fault.

All I can say is that, their business division was very professional and handled the return process very quickly.

I got the laptop pretty quickly also so I'm not why yours is taking a long time. I'd give Customer Service a call.

Although the laptop was advertised as a refurbish, I didn't see any visible cosmetic issues and it appeared new to me. Again it will vary from laptop to laptop.
I've been told if you buy a Scratch & Dent, it may have some signs of light usage.

Look at the system component print out of your order. It should tell you what's included. Normally the accessories are sold separately.

I don't think they'll change the keyboard to teh QWERTY if you bought the Austrian QWERTZ.

    Hope that helps.

Well I only ordered last night. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet and it's a weekend :p

No, I just checked the service tag of the laptop in the Warranty Status checker and that's where it said it was originally shipped on the 28th of April in Austria.

Well those accessories are included in the "Original system configuration" when I type in the service tag in to the Warranty Status checker.

Well the thing is they didn't actually specify any details about the keyboard in the description on the outlet. Considering it was Dell Outlet UK you'd normally expect a QWERTY keyboard and not QWERTZ but this appears to be a unique case.

    Thanks.

I have bought a lot of laptops from the Outlet over the years. With the exception of one still having the previous users data and the dell tech's repair CD in the drive, they have all been like new. I just got my new 6600 Monday. Scored it for $679 with a coupon! What a great machine.

An M6600 for $679? Damn that's cheap. Over here an outlet M6600 would set you back at least £1250 (€1,500 or about $1,750).

It was the 2.5 gHz Core i5(damn bots going I couldn't get a i7), m8900, 1920x1080 screen. Only had 2GB RAM and a 320GB, but I had 8GB of Kingston 1600 RAM, a 128GB SSD, and a 500GB 7200 waiting when it got here and I loaded it up! All together I have right at $1100 in it and it is great. I love the machine.
