It puzzles me why the e4300 only costs a few $$ less than the newer 4310. It doesn't make much sense to me. Especially because the lower prices e4300 still have vista that nobody wants, and the models with W 7 are just as expensive.

is it really offer&demand or just that dell has some sort of bottom price under which won't go for other reasons?
It would make sense to me to deplete the e4300 inventory as fast as possible also because they offer a 3 year warranty, so the later they sell them, the more likely that they will have to replace them with a 4310 in the future.

    your thoughts?

Maybe Dell secretly share my view of the E4310: Which is while the E4310 may be newer and potentially faster internal hardware, the E4300 is overall a better package. I have the E4300 and a colleague has the E4310 and I know which I prefer: The 16:10 display, slightly lower weight and, I suspect, better battery life of the E4300.

This is just the way all of the Dell Outlet pricing works. It's pretty much arbitrary. If you look at the E6510/E6500/D830, you'll see that the cheapest E6510 is $619. The cheapest E6500 is $659. The cheapest D830 is $769.

ahah. that just makes me laugh. It's better to buy the e4300 off ebay, even if some people bid way too much at times.
