So fighting with Dell about the system exchange- The new machine comes with downgrade in Ram, ( 2gb to from 3gb) Comes with no BT- XT has it - Dell says not on the origonal order-, and last Downgraded Graphics- ATI to Intel intigrated.

    Does come with upgraded processor- SU9400- ( 1.4, 3mb,) from U7700 ( 1.33 2mb) -

Dell had agreed to ship with SSD to offset the Graphics since ATI is not even an option anymore- ( they failed to provide once it shipped)

also I look at the service history on the new machine and see that it was involved in a system exchange back in June....

In the phone getting the same BS - you get what the depot ships you - they have been fully tested- - Oh and the XT2 was in another customers hands for 10 months.... so im sure its used looking.

    Very pissed off

Dell has agreed to ship the SSD, 2gb Ram and BT card to me- but only after i receive the machine- but im set to receive tomorrow - i think i should just refuse it?

    thoughts?

From what I can see your only complaint then is that it was a prior used machine by someone else. Since you got the drive, ram and bluetooth.

I would just see what the machine looks like before you refuse it. It is not like once you open the box it can never be returned.

Yes- the parts are now on the way which is fine- but its not just a used machine- but one that was exchanged itself.... its like having your car taken back for being a lemon and being give one that was taken back as well. \

also aas a point, my XT is Mint, looks new, not even any oil on the keys, no scratches on the lcd lid, and palm rest is also like new, I hope the same can be said for what i get,

As a nice update however- Dell is sending the 128gb SSD as opposed to the 64gb I was supposed to get in the first place.

I hear you on that, but also considering that most laptops sold on the outlet were at one time exchanges and or refurbs. Look how many people on here have bought from there with no complaints on wear and tear.

I would say do not lose any hair over it until you see it :)

I would guess that most are not exchanges in the ture sence- Exchanged in that they could not be fixed by field tech. Most of those end out wholesaled out- if you look on ebay- you see many sellers selling Vostros, Adamos, and Latitudes with no Hard drives- these are Dell returns-

Most of the refurb stock, are DOA's and Sold New and returned- Not items that have been in another customers hands for a year and exchanged-

I just spoke to Dell - seems most of what the Indian support person i was speaking to was false- I was told that the escalation team would NOT be calling me, I was surprised when they did. I was also told it is not Dells policy to send a former system exchanged machine out in this situation.

I dealt with a scenario like this at work one time. So I will give that same advice here since it seems fitting.

Once you have it so in your mind that you are and will not be happy, I doubt you will ever really change that without alot of work.

The key point here is that Dell is exchanging your used system for another used/refurb system. No matter what condition your system is in, your system is used, so I see no reason to be angry about the exchange.

If there are any problems with the replacement, I'm sure Dell would be willing to replace damaged/worn parts with refurbished ones, although it probably would have already been done at the factory when they received the system.
