Hi everyone, I have just received several M6500 Precision laptops and they have come with USB3.

Thats the good news. Firstly before the machines are put in to service they are rebuilt our way. This includes a quick trip in to the BIOS to enable several features. In there was a check box to enable USB3.0 turns out that it is disabled by default.
By enabling Windows XP x64 couldn't find any drivers. Dell website doesn't have any drivers listed currently for USB3.0. Called tech support at Dell and they didn't believe our laptop or any were currently shipping with USB3.0. However once he connected and reviewed he agreed it was. Anyway the long and short is we had to trip across to get the drivers. Once installed all worked. Search for NEC_USB-3-0_A00_R255278.exe. This might get up issued shortly, but this is one we downloaded and had working.

The long and the short is if you spot a blue USB connector on your new laptop it does have USB3.0 and you will need to enable it in the BIOS download the NEC driver and bingo, new speeds can be used.
With a USB 3.0 hard drive, it is like lightening at transfers.

    Good luck.
