The cooloing fan of my Dell vostro 1400 has stopped working . I think it happened after I installed Windows 7.

Does anyone has any suggestions on how I can fix it ? I tried using SpeedFan, but It could not detect any fan. The CPU temp is 54'C

Is it driver problem ? If so which driver am I supposed to install ?

    Thank you

i8kfangui should work on the Vostro 1400. If that doesn't do anything, the fan might be physically blocked by something (ie excessive dust). In a worst-case scenario, you might have to replace it, but it's a cheap part at the very least.

the one you suggested is an utility to change the fan's RPM.

The problem I am facing is that.. the computer is not able to detect the fan. I think it is CHIPSET DRIVER PROBLEM. But I do not know which one to install in order to get the fan detected.
