    Hey guys,

My trusty old Vostro 1400 starting giving me lcd troubles. I had a couple of dead pixels in the start but last 2 months it doubled to more than 10!

Now I checked the status of my Vostro and Im still covered by dells 3 year warranty! :D
Called up dell and they send me a
    Dell PN: Y276G
    LP141WX1

Now the the original LCD on the vostro was a SEC3157.

Just wondering how good this new panel would be? Any thoughts on this? :D

Did you see the OEM of it when it was installed? The Samsung panels that they sent for my D620 were absolute crap, it was very bright, but colors were washed out. I finally got an LG panel, which was much better.

The original one that came with the noteboook was a Samsung sec3157.

the new one seems to be an LG Philips.

Out of the 2 which would you think is better?

The LG Philips. :D If everything looks OK, no dead pixels, etc., you should be all set. :)

The washed out look may be a result of gamma being too high. Try calibrating and lowering the gamma (in Win7 click start and search box "calibrate"). Worked for my Asus display that was hella bright but poor contrast before calibrating.

    WOW its done!

Im on new LG philips panel and boy I can make out the difference!
The older samsung panel was grainy and the colors looked washed out and lets not forget the 10+ dead pixels all over the screen!

The new LG philips panel is just awesome! and I have 0 dead pixels.
