I can't for the life of me get the network drivers so install on this pos

I've tried multiple different drivers from different manufactures and even from broadcomm themselvs ( for the broadcom 440x ethernet card ) as well as manually force installing the drivers

it has a fresh install of windows 7 on it and im just trying to set it up for the first time

the problem is with both wireless and wired network adapters

    any help would be appreciated

error 31 is the error device manager gives me next to the device with proper installed drivers and the name showing up correctly

I have no issues installing the drivers off the Dell website, but then again, I am using Vista, the operating system that came with the computer.

What exactly is the error message?

Windows 7 should find your network LAN card. It does with mine 100% of the time, requiring no driver install.

On my Vostro 1500, Windows 7 installed Broadcom 440x 10/100 driver v4.60.0.1, driver date 10/13/2008. What does it say on yours?

p.s. have you tried uninstalling driver and rebooting? If so what happened?

The same drivers installed onto mine automatically with windows but it gives me that error. How is it failing to load drivers that are in windows is a good question.
