I've searched these forums and asked about laptops that would run Autodesk Maya and I've narrowed my search to just one, http://www.dell.com/content/product...station_precision_m4400?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd

I just want to make sure it is capable of running Maya without any problems, photoshop and if it is able to run Team Fortress 2 without any problems either as these are the major uses I'll need it for.

Also, if I go to customize it, is there anything I should keep in mind to put in it for these applications? Thanks

For those applications specifically, the Quadro FX 770 card is more than enough. The FX 1700 is a pricey upgrade that delivers very little benefit, and heats the laptop considerably more. Most users here at NBR consider it a bad decision to use the FX 1700.

Other than that, pretty much any configuration should do, but I'll let the Maya and Photoshop experts answer that more rigorously.

Yup, the 770 is all you'll need. As always the more CPU you power you have the more you'll cut down render time so get as high a CPU as you can afford. Besides that all configs work fine i guess.
