the chassis is supposed to be different

the e6 series is supposedly metal plated (the bottom is)
the e5 is mostly plastic, giving a more bulky feel and appearance.

the e6 will feel hot while the e5 wont (but it will be hotter inside and the fan will probably be on more often)

the e6 is more customizable. not so much with the e5 from what i have seen.

These are the differences I found:

E6410: Magnesium alloy chassis, Intel QM57 chipset, up to 500GB HDD or up to 250GB SSD, choice of integrated or discrete graphics, Bluetooth optional, 6-in-1 card reader, ExpressCard 54 slot, Travel Lite module available for optical drive bay, backlit keyboard option, Bluetooth optional, starting weight 4.26 lbs, dimensions 13.2” x 9.4” x 1-1.2”, 1 eSata/USB combo port, 3 year warranty included in purchase price.

E5410: Non-metal chassis, option of Celeron P4500 processor, option of Linux OS, Intel HM55 chipset, up to 320GB HDD or up to 128GB SSD, integrated graphics, integrated Bluetooth, 3-in-1 card reader, ExpressCard 34 slot, no Travel Lite module option listed, no backlit keyboard option listed, starting weight 5.21 lbs, dimensions 13.3” x 9.6” x 1.31”, no eSata/USB combo port, 1 year warranty included in purchase price.

The E6410 is somewhat smaller and thinner, weighs less, has a stronger chassis, somewhat better components and options, and a 3 year warranty is part of the basic package.

The E5410 can be configured with a Celeron P4500 processor and a Linux OS, which are not available on the E6410.

Bluetooth is integrated in the E5410 and optional on the E6410. That was the only component I could see that was better in the E5410's stock configuration.

What Linux OS? The E5410 is not currently offered with Ubuntu.

The funny thing is that the Spec Sheet lists "Ubantu 9.10." Nice typo.

Incidentally, the E5410 has a substantially different port layout than the E6410, as well as lower capacity batteries. The latch assembly looks entirely different as well. It seems that the two series have less in common that I originally thought.

    hi,
I am very much interested in E5410. but a user review for E5510 mentions a problem with VGA port. See this Dell Latitude E5510 | Dell

Can anyone with E5510 or E5410 confirm if VGA really has a problem or not?
Or this issue is specific to E5510?
