    Hi is it possible to disable the smart card reader in the BIOS or some other way? Thanks

    I'm not sure if i saw an option in the BIOS of on my E6400 and M2400 (I'm assuming it would be similar to your E6500), but you could just uninstall the driver which would render the smart card reader not functional.

    Don't even need to uninstall the driver... just disable the thing in the device manager. It should be under "smart card readers" and the entry should be "USB smart card reader" (most likely the only entry, too).
