If your system is using the Intel Graphics then, you should try going to the intel site.

I just got a second monitor and am having the same problem. Have my primary display connected via DVI without problems and the second one via displayport but it just goes into powersave. Windows 7 registers the second monitor as being present in the configuration options which is weird. I am going to call tech support and see if they can upgrade me to a E port plus with dual DVI out.

On a side note, when I got the new monitor (Dell U2410) I connected it to the dock by itself via displayport and it had the same problem and went into powersave. Have confirmed that the display works fine over VGA and DVI.

Mine started doing this when I updated to the Intel Drivers on Dell's site and updated the Bios to A04. Not sure of which one did it.

Appears that E series computers with video cards do not have the issue? My M6500 is fine. Tested an E6400 and E6500 that both have Quadros and they were fine.

I had Bios A03 when I first noticed the problems. I updated to BIOS A04 and it still has the problem.

Talked to Dell Tech support and after some discussion they agreed to send me a replacement dock to try. I tried to get an E-port plus out of them but they wouldn't agree to that.

Are you guys using E-port or E-port plus? I am trying the second monitor on VGA to see if that works. If using DVI would make the problem go away I wouldn't mind just buying an E-port plus

I have a similar problem. I have two U2401 monitors connected to the Euro2 Advanced E-Port Replicator through DisplayPort. When the laptop is docked and starts up windows I get the following behavior:
    - Windows start up log is shown on monitor 1
    - The logo disappears and monitor one stays turned on, showing nothing.
    - Monitor 2 goes to sleep.
    - pushing Scroll-lock F8 (same as Fn-F8 on external keyboard) turns monitor 2 on, no picture and it goes to sleep again after e few seconds.
    - undocking the laptop shows a black screen on the laptop., Whatever I do it stays black. Can only forcefully power off.

The strange this is that when the laptop is in Hibernate and I dock it and turn it on, it all works fine.

    Any thoughts ?

    Regards.

I have this problem too. We have 35 Latitude laptops with docking stations.
Once in a while the problem pops up out of no where.

My solution until now is to change to DVI. Displayport seems to be the problem. But Im not sure what causes it in the first place. It might be windows update that throws a new Intel driver on the system. I dont know.

Im going to try and investigate it a bit. Called Dell(Denmark) today and the had never heard of it before.
