Does anyone know if the battery from the E4310 will work on the E4300 series?

I'm thinking about getting one of the 3 year batteries if it will fit.
    Thanks

This might be a difficult question to answer unless somebody has both. Part numbers for batteries are a mess, and even though they may be compatible, Dell doesn't list them in the compatibility list (this is true for the D620/D630, hence why I can't say which way it will be for the E6400/E6410 and E4300/E4310).

I would assume no since the chassis is a different shape and size.

There's a possibility that they are the same in order to simplify inventory management. It has been reported that the E6410 batteries are compatible with the E6400 (although I would acknowledge that the chassis is little changed).

We will have to wait until someone with access to both models can check.

I have an E4310. Will see if my coworker with an E4300 is available.

Let us know what you find out Bokeh.

My 9 month old battery is already going berserk. going from 50% charge to 0% charg within a few minutes.

If it fits and has a 3 year life, it would be worth while to pick one up (as long as the price isn't 3X the regular battery).

    Thanks!

If the battery is only nine months, you should be able to get it replaced by Dell under warranty...buying batteries from Dell isn't cheap.

That should definitely qualify for replacement under warranty. I suggest you make a simple graph of elapsed time vs % charge remaining so you have some measurements you can send to Dell if they quibble.

yes I do have a replacement in the mail, but based on my usage patterns, batteries die or lose a great deal of life after 6 to 9 months.

So instead of buying new batteries after 6 to 9 months, I would be interested in this 3 year battery if it 1) fits the e4300, and 2) does indeed have a 3 year life.

Because with the new one I'm about to receive from dell, it's likely to only last me another 6 to 9 months. at that point it would be out of the 1 year warranty, so they will not replace it again. and by then, hopefully there will be more of the 3 year batteries available for purchase at a decent price.

Hmm, I really do wonder how people get these predicted ~1-year lifecycles...I'm on my original D630 battery, delivered a little over two years ago, and it still holds charge for a good two hours with 14% wear. I've never had a battery last less than two years, with most lasting more than three.

I know some claim that charge/discharge cycles don't affect Li-Ion as they degrade with time, but that isn't true in my experience. What are your usage patterns?
