A few pointers and suggestions I wanted to share with you guys-

If you order thru Dell's Small & Home Office division (rather than Small & Medium Business), you can use the following coupon code to save $100. It is valid thru 05/02/2012 on all Latitude models with a 'promo' price (net price including automatic discounts) of $699 or more.

    Coupon Code - ?$9JKKWBGTNZMM

DELL Small & Home Office site

Also, a few other pointers I wanted to share-

    - Order your new system with just the standard 2GB of RAM. Dell charges $85 to upgrade to 4GB, but you can DIY for $20 via Newegg! Just order another 2GB module and pop it in the open slot (or a 4GB module for a total of 6GB)!

    - If you want to utilize the E-Modulay Bay (optical drive bay) to add a 2nd hard drive on the E6420, DON'T purchase this option from Dell. You can get the 2nd hard drive caddy from Newmodeus.com (or Ebay) and a hard drive to go in it from Newegg for less than half what Dell charges for the option!

    - Dell also offrers a cool 3-cell backup battery that fits into the E-Modular Bay to supplement your regular battery. If you order it with a new E6420, it only costs $60. If you order it by itself later, it runs $110-$120!

These are all lessons that I or a friend have learned the hard way...via Dell HELL! :confused2:

Not sure wha this adds to the discussion (given the excellent technical differences in the thead), yet when I first read the title, my first reaction was "the same differences between the D530 and the D630". Sure, there are technical differences, yet the D5xx/D6xx and E5xxx/E6xxx series appear to both be intended for different market spaces.

There are also substantial construction differences - the chassis and casing of the E5xxx series is entirely plastic, the E6xxx uses a lot of metal and has a somewhat more "upmarket" look and feel. In reality I suspect they are both equally robust, FWIW.
