    Current my E6320 has 500gb.
Can I add a 256gb (or smaller) SSD drive to that it would be my primary boot drive so that the boot time is as quick as my friend's Lenovo X220 (such gorgeous screen)?
    Any negative of this approach?
    Thanks for your help

Yes you can. There only downsides of an SSD is reduced space and how expensive they are. I would recommend Intel or Samsung.
