I can't see this option on the dell uk site. Is it a standard feature now? Or are they out of stock of the backlights?

    Thanks

You can order it directly from the rep even if it's not an option in the site. I think they are still in the middle of updating the different configurator pages across the globe and some of them are still missing some options.

I can see it. It is near the bottom of the first (components) page below the auto/air/AC adaptor and above the base warranty and power supply.

I still can't see the Bluetooth and modem options.

They are jacking up the price too, the base configuration went up about $100 on the Canada site last night. There must be heavy demand for this laptop.

On the official Dell pictures I can't see the trackpoint-stick on the backlit keyboard. Is it only available with the standard keyboard? Does anybody know?

See this post for a not-very-good photo of a real backlit keyboard. My E6400 (with backlit keyboard option) has come off the end of the production line so I should be able to provide a better photo within a week.

I can't wait until you and Greg receive your e6400s..

Is there a thread that includes your system's specs, John?

I had summarised the key features here so I've now attached the details there.

How good or bad is backlit keyboard from original non-backlit keyboard? I mean in terms of feel, flex? I currently use Dell Latitude D630 and I like it's keyboard quite a lot. I am wondering if backlit keyboard would feel about the same.

I wish I could go and physically see Dell E6400 somewhere in my city (Vancouver).

It's very quiet. I like the key action very much. I still prefer the Lenovo t61- which is a bit more sturdy, perhaps- a bit more, but this is a very close second and as I'm liking it more and more, it might surpass the Lonovo soon.

I did have to push down the top right when the keyboard came as it wasn't set properly and I used shaving cream to get rid of a squeak coming from the backspace key (Thanks, Good Bytes).
