I am not the worlds best typer and as a result my thumbs occassionally skim over the trackpad moving the cursor and/or making me lose my typing place.

Id like for the pad to be inactive, just while I am typing.

    Is this possible?

it's possible to turn it off when you put a mouse
but to turn it off while typing and turning it again once you stop using your keyboard.... - you can use the sensitivity & touch check feature of your touchpad driver..... adjust to your own desire ;-)

    Wow that sux for me.
I cant eblieve it wont turn off just when im typing? (much like what you can do with the pointing stick)

What if you are doing paperwork and have some work on the front of the laptop? The interference will keep moving the cursor to move around causing one to lose their place and accidentally type in the wrong row/sentence.

Go download the latest driver from Dell's website:

    Drivers and Downloads

The updated driver "Adds Enhanced palm rejection" (see the important information section on the site).
