I recently bought a Latitude E6400 with a Seiko-Epson LED display (1280x800) and find the whites to be too intense, which gives me a headache. Turning down the brightness either did not help much or made the display too dim overall. I did not have such problems with other laptop or desktop monitors, whose whites appear to be more yellow. Is there a way I can adjust the display settings? Thanks.

You can try to use the Intel or Nvidia control panel to play around with the color settings. Maybe something like turning down contrast will help you?

From my experience, LED displays are generally colder (blue/purple) in color than CCFL, which tend to be warmer (yellow/orange). I also suggest going into the graphics properties and turning down the "brightness."

Brightness? No, the setting you want to adjust is probably gamma. Turn it down. If you have Vista or 7, Windows has a new color tuning system that you can find in the personalization control panel. It runs a wizard that helps you tune the colors on your display.

Thanks. I have a Nvidia card. Would adjusting the "white point" help? If so, how could I do so?

Check Nvidia Control Panel for all your color adjustment needs. Play with it. You can always restore to default by clicking on "restore to default" text button on the top right corner, at the blue head bar of the color adjustment section. :)

In my case all I did is increase by 10% the digital vibrance.. I have the LG panel. But it still sucks (like all LCD's using a TN panel without exception, which is in about all laptops, and what most people have on their desktop monitor) to my CRT screen. But then again, high-end CRT's monitors are still considered the ultimate master in color reproduction at the 8-bit range.

By the way, I doubt if the display is Seiko-Epson. SEC means Samsung Electronics Corporation, at least for displays.
