I am currently using my e6400 with a docking station and external monitors.
Out of nowhere and over th epast couple of weeks, every time I eject my laptop to go use it while moving around my apartment, the screen brightness is very low.
I go to the brightness settings ( or just use Fn and the up/down arrows) and moving it to the highest level barely increases the brightness and its just very low, for being on the highest setting.

If I then close (hibernate) and then relog into my computer, the settings are back to normal and the screen is very bright.

    Solution?

Check if the ALS (Ambient Light Sensor) is enabled, you can press Fn+Left Arrow to toggle it. If that doesn't fix it, you'll need to reinstall the OS since it sounds like a software issue.
