this has never happened to me until I installed the new Inter driver because I was having a video problem with turbo tax. When I plug or unplug the AC the monitor shuts off for a second and then turns back on.

very annoying. Why is this happening? Also what refresh rate should I set it to? 40hz or 60hz?

the driver was installed from win update. I have Win 7

The momentary screen blanking happens to me on XP as well. I'm using the latest driver straight from Intel. Never really thought much about it, though; I doubt there's a fix for it without changing driver versions.

This is a driver-specific thing. Not technically a problem, but it can be annoying. It seems to be more common on systems with Intel graphics cards, all of my systems had discrete graphics. See if Intel has a newer version driver available. You can also try rolling back the driver from Computer Management, but I guess that would re-introduce old issues.

Same happens to me sometimes, I can usually just turn the screen brightness back up from black.

The new Intel drivers really seem to like 40hz, which bugs me. I can see flickering. I keep having to reset it to 60Hz.

Without the Intel drivers however, I can't use Premiere Pro at all.

I have solved the problem, I rolled back the driver and installed the latest driver from the dell website. now I don't get that problem anymore.

what is the advantage of 60hz if I don't use it for games. Is it better for videos and movies as well?
