I have an E6400 running Vista Business. Whenever I let the computer idle and the screen turns off, my wired network connection disconnects. I want to prevent this from happening. I made sure it's not going to sleep. I've checked every option I can think of including the power options in the control panel and the device properties. I even went into BIOS to see if there anything thing that was doing this. Does anyone have the same issue and fixed it?

I have the same issue with Win 7 RTM, tried messing around with power options in DCP with no luck yet.

I called Dell support and they gave me a clue. In Intel's display properties, there is a button for power settings. I just disabled all power saving settings and hope that fixes it.

For anyone that's having the same problem, I found the answer. I found this on Microsoft TechNet and it worked for me. I changed the NIC to 100 full duplex and it solved the issue.

    Thanks for the further info.
I am not able to test it, but if I install the proper Intel drivers from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=3003, there is some advanced power options in device manager, that seems to fix the issue. My network here at home works nicely that way, but I've only had the issue at work, and not able to test that anytime soon.
