e6400 - tv-out? another hd?

    hello

    owner but newbie with e6400 nvs 160m
    two questions (actually 3):

    1. what is this "hatch" beneath the smartcard slot? it should be open?
    2. can i connect the vga port directly to old tv with s-video?
    the nvidia site says i can (?)
    at the bottom - Integrated SD/HD TV Output ?
    3. how to connect another hd? the fastest connection

    That is the fascia for the HDD. See the service manual.
    Look around for an adaptor that uses the Displayport socket.
    Use the eSATA port. Or you can get a caddy to put the HDD into the optical drive bay (see the first thread in this forum).

    i HAVE to use an adapter (25$ ~)? the nvidia page says it has tv-out capabilities...can't i connect the vga port to the TV's S-VIDEO?

    you still need an adapter either FROM:
    vga to rca / vga to composite
    display port to hdmi

    Just because the video chip has the capability does not mean that a computer manufacturer provides all the hardware (connection and port) to make use of the capability. Look on ebay for the hardware you need - much less expensive than Dell's list prices.
