So, I'm in a market for a notebook. Under $650 I found these notebooks (Along with E4300).

I'm planning to be a gfx design major, and I'm not planning on gaming. My requirements were to have bluetooth, webcam, led backlit display, and a backlit keyboard on a 13 or 14" solution with a non celeron or pentium processor. These 3 seems to be excellent...

Are there any differences (except performance), between E6400 and E6410? maybe like some problems that E6400 had and E6410 got rid of? How about dimensions?

Which one do you guys recommend?

See my E6410 review which makes comparisons with the E6400. The E6410 is newer faster hardware but it does appear to be at the expense of more heat and shorter battery run time.

The E4300 is a nice machine (I've got one). The two possible advantages of the E64x0 compared with the E4300 are (i) the option of 1440 x 900 screen and (ii) dedicated graphics. However, the E4300 is 1lb / 0.45kg lighter. I suspect that you would welcome the extra pixels of the 1440 x 900 display for your graphics work.

Yes I would! However, there is no way for me to upgrade that except myself later on because I'd have to buy preconfigured used/refurbished machines since my budget is around $600.

I would probably just get E6400 or E4300, I even considered XPS Studio 13 but the battery life on those seems to be bad.

You should be able to find a used E6400 with WXGA+ display if you search around. I would recommend the Intel graphics on account of less heat and battery drain. It is also worthwhile knowing that, if the battery is getting tired then the E6410 batteries are compatible and have slightly higher capacity.

Right now, I submitted a best offer of a E6410 refurbished, i5, 2gb ram (i'll probably upgrade) with an XGA+ LED Backlit, Bluetooth, and webcam.

It looks liek replacing the keyboard on these Latitudes are VERY Easy, so I'll do that myself. If the best offer falls through, I'll still buy it because it's a great price ($575 buy it now with free shipping with best offer button).

There IS a E6400 for $512, with a T9400, 4GB HDD RAM, and all the bling still without the keyboard, but not a problem still.

Do you know any websites that's not Ebay that sells used/refurbished Latitudes for such a price?

and thank you so much for your input, and your time. i really appreciate it!

Don't know if you're in the US (I'm not) but if so have you looked at the Dell outlet ? The prices there for reboxed laptops can be rediculously low sometimes.

Although some people may not like it, have you checked on places like craigslist? I have picked up a couple machines on there with no issue.

    I just bought a E6410, for $550. Refurbished,
2GB RAM and 160GB HDD is the only part i don't like about it... However, it does have wxga+, i5 520m, bluetooth, webcam, intel 6200, dvdrw.

now, to get a backlit keyboard! thanks everyone for so much help!
i hope it's a nice machine, i hear great things about it.

Fortunately, both those parts are easy to upgrade. An SSD is to be recommended whenever you can afford one.
