Hi, I just got a refurb E6410 today and I'm liking it a lot, and the screen is clear and bright but I'm sort of disappointed with the color quality. It's pretty much the same as the T61 I came from, and I was looking for a bit more "punch". I have the LG panel which people say is the best of the stock LCDs, but the color/viewing angle is still sort of bad in my opinion. Does anyone know of some compatible upgrades I could get for it? I have the 1440x900 panel and I'd like to stick with that resolution. I found this panel but I haven't found much information on it.

    Thanks

That's the best you will with a 14~" laptop display.

I know there's maybe 1-2 IPS laptop displays available but those are 15"-17" and very likely will not be compatible with a Dell E series. Edlit: and will be expensive and very difficult to find.

So as far as viewing angles go, there isn't much to do unless you go glossy which will be slightly better viewing angles but will give you worse color accuracy and give you horrible reflections.

For the color accuracy visit Lagom LCD testing and try to calibrate your colors. Google it, it's a webpage. You will need to use the control settings found in your video card software for the colors.

Are you referring to the one in the link I pasted as the "best"? I know I probably won't get better viewing angles but a slightly higher color gamut would be nice. They also offer that panel in matte. I'm curious to know the specs of that one panel but I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Hm, seems like it only has 45% NTSC gamut, which is probably the same as what I have now. I can't find any others that are better, which is unfortunate. Is there any possible way to replace the LED backlight module on the panel itself?

Indeed. You would be stuck with the same gamut.
Only RGB LED and full array LED offer wider color gamut.

Looks like I'll be sending my 6410 back and get a 6510 with the FHD screen if I can find a decent coupon. Oh well.
