    Your laptop has integrated graphics so that leeches from system RAM. I wouldn't install DCP software if you don't have the fingerprint reader. Gave me headaches with my E6410.

    Some of the RAM is used for the display. So that portion is not usable for applications.

    Only dedicated graphic cards has it's own memory. Intel graphic solutions uses your CPU for assistance and your RAM for it's own memory. That is why Intel solutions consumes less power.

    I would only install the DCP System Manager for user interface control over Dell system functions. Works fine... running on nearly all of the systems they sell, of course. Take aspirin for headaches.

    I am looking at a E6410 ATG at dell outlet. How do I know the model of the SSD HD in the laptop? Is there a way to find out before I buy it? Thanks a lot.

    I've been experiencing audio stutter since I bought my E61410 last September. I see occasional high DPC latency. Here are some steps I've taken to isolate the cause.

    1) disabling drivers (network, audio, bluetooth, etc) one at a time
    2) uninstalling Dell Control Point software
    3) booting in safe mode
    4) updating drivers to the most recent

    I've had no luck to date. My system has sometimes crashes with "Event 41, Kernel-Power" events while playing streaming video. I am not completely certain that the crashes are related.

    My configuration -

    Intel Core i7
    4 Gb RAM
    Win 7 Pro SP1 32-bit
    Intel GPU
    A7 BIOS

    Does anyone have recommendations for helping me resolve this issue?

    Good, because your problem is your Intel GPU, sound card drivers, and sometimes it could be the motherboard drivers.
    You need to re-install them.

    This is how do it properly
    -> In normal Windows (in Programs and Features panel).
    -> Uninstall your graphic solution drivers
    -> Uninstall your sound card drivers
    -> Uninstall your motherboard drivers
    -> Get CCleaner (free), and perform a registry clean up
    -> Restart your computer
    -> Now install your motherboard drivers, and restart your computer
    -> Install your sound card drivers, and restart your computer
    -> Install your video card drivers and restart your computer.

    If it doesn't help, then don't get the Dell drivers, and get the Intel drivers.

    Secondly, it's gigaBYTES (GB) not gigaBITS (Gb) your RAM.

    And if that doesn't help, consider re-imaging the system to get a known good and clean installation. OEM images *should* be pristine but I find that they generally are not, and that once you re-install, you discover system stability and new confidence. Switching the BIOS SATA to AHCI mode may help improve the latency but expect some to remain. But any *normal latency present for these systems* should only affect recording, not a/v playback. See my reimage notes below for an outline.

    Incidentally, I'm having a good experience putting MS Security Essentials on a few systems. It's free and has a light footprint for anti-malware. I recommend it for a clean install.

    Thanks for the tips, GK and GoodBytes. I am unsure about which drivers are considered motherboard drivers. Can someone please enlighten me?

    In view of my notes, the first two drivers would be MB drivers... Intel chipset and Dell system software... more so the Intel chipset drivers. Although GB should clarify what he means.
