Received a refurbished E6410 2 days ago. It's been working great except freezing upon waking from sleep. Clean install of Win 7 fixed the problem. Paid $619 for the machine and add $99 for 3 year on site service. Specs:
I7 620M, 4G ram, 1440*900 display, NVS 3100m, 320G disk, finger print reader, smard card/express card reader, 6 cell, webcam, bluetooth, intel 6200N. I am so glad I didn't spend over a grand for a new one because what I got looks just new to me...

For sure! I can play these games (well I don't have TorchLight) on my Quadro NVS 160M which is a much lower GPU (eq: Geforce 9400M but with 256MB dedicated memory - I also overclock it for certain game to get playable frame rates (see my signature for the OC Guide and see how much I overclock that GPU... pretty high for a laptop :D)
Monkey Island 5 runs perfectly fine in medium-high settings (my CPU limits the game, not the GPU). TF2 plays fine, HalfLife 2 also, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 not so much on my side.. but you should be able to play it at low/medium settings.

Very interesting question.. let me test.
Nope you can't, you need SLI to do this. So in this case you can only have:
    - Laptop + VGA.
    - Laptop + Display Port.
    - VGA only.
    - Display Port only.

I don't know if your result will change with the dock station, but I would not get my hopes up. You can get Matrox Tripple Head to go, or Dual Head to go, to achieve what you want.

    - Check the power profile Option.. maybe the option is set to not load Aero.
    - Make sure you have the latest version of Dell Control Point System Manager (uninstall the old one first).

This is normal. You can order the screw from Dell. It's made on purpose. This is a common thing going on with business machine with ejectable optical drives.

This is a special Microsoft Windows OEM disk (pre-activated, with a system put in place to check if it's a Dell system or not), with Dell OEM logo added to the system property panel.
    - This is NO image.
    - NO drivers are included (other than the ones built-in Windows).
    - This disk will act like a normal WIndows OEM disk.

Sticky keys are not normal, contact Dell for them to ship you a replacement one. Backlit keyboard are found to be quieter, and less flexible due to the backlit put in place.

Hmm.. What OS do you have?

    No Dell drivers included.

This is because you (or if it's from Dell Outlet, the original order, has this screw requested to be included).

Huh, sounds like we got the same deal. I've been having the same problem, with it locked up on coming out of sleep. Haven't had time yet to wipe the system and reinstall. Tried removing and reinstalling the video drivers, but the nvidia installer only wants to let me install audio drivers. Eh, I just need to do the clean install of windows.

    Great, thanks!

Yup, already done, thanks! On the previous page there's a partial transcript of my chat with dell support... I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get a replacement, considering the thing works fine.

It's Win 7 Pro 64 bit. I haven't done the wipe and reinstall yet, and haven't checked which touchpad drivers are installed. Most people who complained about the trackpad mentioned a clean install with the latest drivers improving things. Are you thinking that the stutter is not normal? It doesn't strike me as bothersome or unusual.

I think it's standard for them to include it... my package had the screw in it too; I just didn't think to look for it until IceWeasel mentioned it being in a separate baggie.

Should I remove the Dell diagnostics partition? I need to create a another partition on the drive, but I have no idea what that thing actually does....

Alrighty, so I've managed to get Linux working quite well on this unit. My distro of choice happens to be Linux Mint 9, but the feedback here should work for Ubuntu as well. Please note that I have the nVidia graphics, so I can't comment on the process regarding the Intel GMA.

If you pop in either Live CD, chances are you'll either get a black screen or gobbledegook all over the screen upon boot. Easier way to get around that, is on either distro hit F6 on boot-up and then add "nomodeset" to the boot parameters. That'll get you into either a live session, or the installer. Once it's installed, you'll need to edit the boot parameters again (when GRUB comes up, hit 'e', then find "quiet" and "splash", delete both of those and put "nomodeset" in their place and hit Control-X to boot). Once you've booted into the new install, follow the pop ups to install the nVidia drivers from the repo, that should alleviate the issue and you can just boot with the default parameters. I only tried installing Mint, but both Ubuntu and Mint booted up into a Live session with this setting.

Apart from that, everything seems to work. The Intel wireless works out of the box, as does the wired NIC and bluetooth adaptor. Sound is fine. Haven't tried the webcam or built in microphone, but once I install Skype I'll give it a whirl and report back. Compiz works very well. It'll be interesting to see how it goes with multiple monitors and docking once my docking station arrives.

Great! When I reinstalled I just used whatever nVidia driver that Windows itself put on; I couldn't download the one on dell site for E6410 (says file non-existent?!) and haven't check nVidia's site yet. Seems working fine now but will check again.

had this same problem with my outlet e6410 and clean install worked for me as well - is $619 with taxes??? I paid $610 after taxes with i5 430m, 4g, 250gb hd, intel 6200n, no webcam, intel graphics, and lower res screen.

Still very happy with my e6410 as it looks brand new and is screaming fast but looks like you got an even better deal with the better i7, d graphics, higher res screen bigger hdd and bluetooth.

Definitely try a clean install of windows. I had the same problem, tried updating drivers but didn't fix. After the install my computer comes out of sleep/hibernation perfect!

Well 619 is before tax, I paid almost 50 for tax alone; not bad though. Yours is great as well considering the lower price. I guess I just happened to ran into this machine and fell for the build quality and the non-glossy WXGA+ screen.

Now the fingerprint reader just ignores my right index finger, but my left index works out fine. Curious... Also does anyone has recommandation for a second AC adaptor? I'd like a slim one to carry along but not sure if the 65w from Dell is compatible with E6410.
