Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions about the E6410 I'm hoping someone can help me with.

First, my system came with a regular keyboard, but I decided that I wanted a backlit keyboard, so I bought one from ebay. I installed it, and it works, but it seems as though the keys are stiffer, and my fingers feel strained after a period of typing. Also, the tops of the keys are flat, whereas the tops of the keys on my previous (original) keyboard was concave. Is this normally how the E6410 backlit keyboards are? Is there a part number difference, or a specific part number I should have ordered?

Second, I have complete care on my laptop and it was recently repaired, the lid was replaced as was the palm rest. Ever since, in order to close the lid, I have to press exactly where the clasp is on the lid, otherwise it will spring back up and not lock. I don't remember it being like this before, does a new lid take some time to "break in" or something?

There's several different makes of regular and backlit keyboard and some makes are definitely stiffer than others. I'm not sure if there's a way to get a certain make via part number, etc, though.

The lid thing is definitely not normal. The hook in the lid could be bent, or Dell could have messed something up installing the button and the palmrest... it's conceivable that, after some use, these kinds of issues will break themselves in, though.

I may have to call them back then. I hate doing that so much but if I have the warranty, I guess I may as well use it. I'm assuming you have one too? If so, if you shut your lid by pressing it down on either the left or right side, does it lock, or do you have to press it down closer to the middle? If my memory serves me, mine used to lock regardless. Come to think of it, sometimes it doesn't even lock when I press it down directly above the clasp.

Is it possible the LCD may be bent on the inside or something, causing it to not sit flush with the palm rest?
