E6410 - trouble tethering phone

    I can't get my Sprint Mogul (WM 6.1) to tether properly with my E6410 using Internet Sharing on the phone. It connects but quickly disconnects after a few seconds. I don't think it has ever stayed connected longer than 1 - 2 mins. When I move the phone and same USB cable to my old laptop (Toshiba Satellite), it stays connected to my hearts content.
    I have tried all the USB ports on the E6410 and they all behave the same. Any suggestions on what could be causing this or how to troubleshoot further?
