I'm installing Dell drivers after a clean install of Win7 64-bit.

Following Dell's instructions I went to install the recommended Intel Turbo
Boost driver which is 1.0.1.1002. However, my laptop reported that this was
an old version and that version 1.2.0.1002 was already installed.

By whom ? This is a clean install. Is it possible that a previous driver in the
installation sequence, 'Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility", included the
later Turbo Boost driver ? Then why would Dell want me to install an older
version ?

Funny thing is that if I search Dell for 1.2.0.1002 I get the Turbo Boost driver
page for the Studio Laptop 1749.

when you did the clean install you can select to "use internet during install" so if you did that, it would give you the latest files from the internet
