I just wanted to get a feel for the max temperature seen by other users who have the E6410 with the NVIDIA NVS 3100m. Specifically, the maximum temperature value reported by GPU-Z, HWMonitor, SIW, or any other temperature monitoring software.

Currently, the maximum I have encountered is 102°C. I am rather impressed with that number, though admittedly, it represents a worrisome value. Note that I have achieved this without any overclocking and with all settings at stock.

I am just curious to see the results encountered by others, even if these temperatures are perfectly normal.

    Specifications:

    Driver:
    257.41 MS WHQL

    Clocks:
    Core - 607.5MHz
    Memory - 789.8MHz
    Shader - 1468.1MHz

    Maximum Temperature:
    102°C

    Minimum Temperature:
    55°C

That's normal. I've seen mine hit about 98*C (HWMonitor) whilst playing Heroes of Newerth. You're fine as long as you're not getting a performance hit. The GPU will clock itself down to save it from cooking. If you still get decent performance at that temperature, don't worry about it.

Therein lies the problem, because I regularly find the GPU downclocking itself while playing Alien Swarm on Steam. I am not playing on very intensive settings, though perhaps I should reduce the resolution to further reduce the workload. I have lowered most of the detail settings to medium, so that's about all I have left to change.

Still, I am not particularly worried, because I have a 3 year warranty, and I am not operating the computer outside of it's normal operating conditions. I am just surprised to find so few comments pertaining to the heat generated by this GPU. Maybe I would encounter more if I searched with the NVIDIA 310m as a keyword.

I've not noticed any slow down whilst playing HoN (all high settings). Mind you, I play windowed at 1440x900 whilst the laptop is driving it's own screen plus my 22" LCD, so there's a fair bit of work for it to do. The frame rate is very nice (not sure of the exact numbers, but it's very smooth) and I'm fairly sure I've never seen it lag out.

It's possible the issue is actually on the network side, and the latency issues are server-side as opposed to GPU-based. I realized that the periods of lag tend to occur in the lobby, which indicates that it is more likely a network issue than a hardware issue.

Still, Alien Swarm is much more demanding than one would expect, given how fluid most other Source Engine based games tend to run with this card. Then again, perhaps the game still needs some further optimization. After all, the game is free, so I can't complain too much XD

do you guys think we can flash this nvidia 3100 with a lower voltage...
i had a good deal of chance with gtx260m in my g51vx by undervolting flashing, the temps decreased by 10C.
