I have a Belkin Gigabit Ethernet ExpressCard (EC), 34mm with 26 pins, part # F5U250, and an E6420 Latitude laptop with a 54mm card slot and 26 pin connection.

When the Belkin ExpressCard is inserted into the EC slot, the ExpressCard is not detected.

The Belkin ExpressCard works fine with the E6410 latitude, which also had a 54mm card slot and a 26 pin connection.

Is anyone else having similar issues? Is there another EC recommendation to use with an Ethernet cable?

Try another expresscard to confirm if the 6420 slot is working.

I think the "Extended Battery Life" will power down that part of the system. It might also be disabled in the BIOS.

I know that my eSATA 34mm Expresscard won't work under A05 of the BIOS, have yet to try it with A06 yet. Meanwhile, my two USB3.0 34mm Expresscards work fine.

I never use 34mm expresscard, I will go all out for 54mm (personal preference only, i hate to see the empty space when 34mm is inserted zzz...). So far have used USB 3.0 card and soundcard without problem.

More often you don't get a choice. Because many laptops only have 34mm slots and the 54mm slots are backward-compatible, the majority of manufacturers only make 34mm.

I only have one card that occupies the whole 54mm part, and that's only because it's a 34mm with a plastic clip to cover the gap!
