I know somebody who is interested in swapping the 1366x768 screen in his Latitude E6510 with 1920x1080.

The 1366x768 screen is the LG LP156WH2 (LGD024B, Dell P/N R869R) and I'm looking at the LG LP156WF1<s>(TL)(A1)</s> (TP)(B1) or something similar as a replacement.

Is it a direct swap? I heard of a story where a tech replaced somebody's E6510's 1366x768 with 1920x1080 but I don't remember if it was a full assembly swap or just a LCD swap. Does the cable have all of the pins and all of the copper traces (is the same cable used for all 3 screens?)

We may have to end up opening his display assembly to count the pins and copper traces on the cable, and to get the model number of the cable.

This should be a direct swap. At worst, you will need a new display cable, but you should not need to replace the lid, inverter, bezel, etc.

E6510 are all LED, should not be an inverter.

So he went ahead and ordered the screen from the LaptopScreen.com link above. When he received it, I installed it. The existing 30-pin cable was compatible with the new display, and the picture was displayed perfectly.

Verdict: The E6510 can be upgraded from 1366x768 to 1920x1080 (LG LP156WF1 TP B1) and it is a direct swap. LaptopScreen.com also ships this exact model when you order it (at least in this case).

EDIT: The (TL)(A1) model I'm fairly certain is a 40-pin connector, not a 30-pin connector. You need the (TP)(B1)
