My mouse started moving by itself. I noticed that when I push on the right side of the case (by the intel sticker), the mouse will start moving. I took off the rear panel and cd rom, it looks like the motherboard is the only thing under that panel... is it time to call dell?

reloaded drivers, same problem. Booted into backtrack... same issue.

Are you sure you aren't accidentally touching the touchpad?

there is about 6 inches of room on the right of the touchpad. If i push below the speaker, by the core i5 sticker, no where near the touchpad... the mouse starts moving diagonally down and left. If i squeeze it, this doesnt happen, but if I push on it while its on my leg or the table, it does. Also, sometimes the mouse will randomly move without touching the computer... always left and down though. This just started happening yesterday.

Perhaps the pointer stick... a strain guage that may be under some strain (in one direction) or just failing a bit. Could it be affected by the keyboard mounting?

Do you have on site repair? I would get a Dell technician to come look at your problem than mailing it off.

It's not the pointing stick. How do I find out if I have on site repair?

If you setup an account on Dell.com and enter your service tags to track your systems, it will list the service contracts.
