I was on dells site picking out a E6410 when an amazing deal popped up locally for a 6510. The only thing this one doesn't have is the 1080p screen and (maybe) bluetooth.

I would like to upgrade the screen to a 1920x1080. What make/model screen should I be looking for? I don't really care if it's the original part or not as long as the quality is the same. Do the screens have a common inverter and video cable?

Second, I would like to either: locate my bluetooth module, or add one. I have 4 devices still unknown in device manager, so I may well have it, but I haven't had the time to install some drivers to find out what it is that I am missing. Where is the module located?

    Thanks

Just look for anything that's labelled as a 1920 x 1080 display for the E6510. If a screen fits one E6510, it should fit all E6510. I think most of the periphery should be the same given that the E6510 doesn't have an LCD option (like the E6x00 did)... you *might* need to change the display cable.

    As for the BT...

Thanks for the reply!... Ahh, that's where the damn bluetooth is. I couldn't find it for the life of me... and now I know why... it's in a pretty weird place and I don't have one :)

As for the screen, I cannot seem to find any replacements. I am looking on ebay and having trouble finding it at repair parts sites. Does anyone have the model number of the OEM version? I feel it might be easier to search by model. How about any good parts sites (usually not a fan as they charge wayyyy too much)?

    Good deal: $400 :D

    Its i5-520m, 4gb ram, 225 gb hd, nvs 3100m. WXGA screen :(

the main thing I wanted was the nvs 3100 and the screen... since I can sell this screen, it's not a big deal.. saved around $400 (if using the outlet)... and this one isn't a refurb.. still has 12xx days on next day care and whatnot.

Pretty nice for that config. I think the screen will probably cost you $100-130. Also don't forget to get a $18 backlit keyboard if yours doesn't already have one.

After not finding anything like a part number for a replacement screen, I decided to take my lcd out and check the part number. The screen is made by LG and the model number is a LP156WH2. LG also has LP156WD2 (1600x900) and LP156WF2 (1920x1080). My sticker also specifies (TP)(B1) which appears to be the connector type.

I have been unable to find a LP156WF2 (TP)(B1), however there are plenty of LP156WF1 (TP)(B1)'s to be had. I wonder what the difference is... they appear to have the proper connector and in the right location.

edit: a bunch of people have them on ebay, mostly with a "1-5 dead pixels is ok" policy, but one company, out of CA, has one for $83 with a no dead pix guarantee... how come I feel like something has to be wrong?

Bought the LCD from the dude on ebay for $83. Brand new, no dead pixels, perfect quality LG panel. Booted right up at the correct resolution, no issues. Pretty high res panel, dunno if it's too much for 15.6... time will tell.

    That's a steal.

Anyone know if there's a webcam with Bezel available for the 6510?
