I am wondering whether to get a 1080p or 1200p monitor as my secondary. The primary will be using my laptop screen.

If I were to get the 1200p, I could only use VGA to connect, right, as HDMI does not support resolutions above 1080p? And what about the video card...will it allow me to have such a large resolution across two monitors?

I will eventually get a 460 or 560 as an eGPU, and so I am leaning towards the 1200p (why not have the extra space when the card will handle it), but until then, if the laptop can't support one monitor at 1080p and one at 1200p I won't get the larger screen.

    I am consider either the 24" 1080p MVA ASUS ML248H or the 24" 1200p e-IPS DELL U2412M.

    Any suggestions?
