    hello everyone,
i have the dell latitude E6410.
i always had it with bios password, couple of days ago i changed the password and now cannot remember what i typed.

got this screen when i boot up

so i call dell and they gave me admin pasword

after that i get another popup that asked for hdd password, so i called dell again and got hdd password, typed it in and this came up

anyway, not afraid to loose anything since i do backups on desktop pc i pressed ok and secure manager started erasing

first it said it will take 12 min, but when it was on for few hours i called dell again and they said it might take longer than few hours.
its been 48hrs now and its still going
anyone ever had this issue before?

Is it still going? Have you called Dell back and see what they have to suggest? I think you might need a new HDD if you can't access the HDD after rebooting...

i can access bios with master password from dell,
its the hdd that gives me headache.
and i read that removing the battery won't help cause there is a separate chip that stores password for hdd.

thanks for the help though, any other ideas welcome...

If you forgot your BIOS password, you will need to contact Dell, particularly if you are under warranty. Short of that, password-bypass technique discussion is not permitted on these forums - thread locked.

EDIT: Actually, I will allow this thread to stay open, as long as the above topics are not discussed - discussion on the secure unlock and data wipe that Dell walked you through is okay.

Have you tried restarting the process? Sometimes it gets frozen up?

i do NOT need bios hacking tools. i have the bios and hdd master passwords from dell
the problem is it freezes on the erase process and i'm just asking is there another way to do it.
    tried twice same thing.
