    There is a difference, as one should suspect. The colors on the RGB Alienware screen pop. The M6600 looks like they are faded. The reds look pink on the M6600 screen. The M6600 still looks good to me though.

    The Alienware R17x machines that I have seen have tinted glass in front of the LCD panel. Color saturation is better on the R17x at the expense of brightness and the extra weight of the glass.

    Also remember that the R17x may have been a 2nd generation with the RGBLED TN panel.
