Given the current pricing on the M6600, I'm about to order .. having 40 more minutes, given the current pricing that ends on Thursday.

All I "need" to upgrade is the screen and processor. I want 4-8 GB and want get a 256+ SSD. The SSD option is $600 over the base pricing (as of today), I'd pay someone to set it up so I don't HAVE to mess with it when I first get it.. But I will later (of course.)

I'm trying to figure out if the the SSD on the M6600 is currently competitive and worth an extra $100 for Dell to set it up, or should I just get the default HDD and get the SDD later. +/- $100 isn't the issue... it is more about will I regret getting the default Dell SSD.

    Thoughts?

I would definitely get the 250GB hdd and replace it later. I'd also get 2GB of RAM and replace that with better RAM and save hundreds by doing both.

Installation for both is super easy. SSDs are new, so they are one of those things where I would want a brand name with the forum/firmware support that comes along with them. The OCZ forums were a tremendous help when I got my first SSD.

    What is happening this Thursday?

there is currently a $600 discount.. that ends tonight.. but they won't tell me what happens tomorrow.. 600 is enough for me to order now. But I'd add on some stuff to avoid having to "put it together".. I'd pay $100 or so.. but not $200 for $50 dollars of RAM.. it just offends me..

You mean the varied discount that is on every laptop build option? I thought that was an all the time thing.
