Recentley ordered the 3300 fast track. $899.00 i5, yada yada yada...anyway. I now have two of them. First one showed up with a very flexing keyboard. Just got the replacement today, it has a better keyboard, and the screen is much much brighter than the earlier one I received. That may sound good, but the colors are a bit washed out in comparsion to the first Vostro. On the first Vostro, the page background is more "blue" than number 2. What's going on here? Had service on the line and was trying to check drivers, but system was not up and running for him to go into. Anyway...two systems, exactly the same, but different. What gives??? One more thing...the fan runs more on the replacement unit.

Dell probably has several different screen manufacturers supplying the panels for these machines. Completely normal and getting a "good" screen has been a crapshot for years.

The tech said the Vostros were the same, or that the displays were the same? You can check the hardware ids in Device Manager and that will tell you if the screens are the same.

just packed up the replacement. it has a better display and keyboard, but the hard drive vibrates the palm rest and the fan switches on and off too often. at least the first one they build is quiet. will have to see what customer care has to say

Have you tried swapping the keyboards between the two laptops to see if it makes a difference?

They are both Generic PnP Monitors???? If changing out the display wasn't so involved on this unit, I might just do that. Was going to try and download graphic drivers if any out there, but Dell has not put the system active yet.

The one which I put the better keyboard into and runs quiet has a light blue tint in the LCD, whereas the replacement unit is much whiter... if that make sense. I prefer the whiter display.

    Did swapping keyboards fix it?

For the LCD, if you're really wanting to make it the way you want to, just swap the LCD assemblies.
