Hey, I want to get something with a bit more power than my current 1000M. The 1000M is nice, and I would've upgraded it to the 2000M had I bought the machine outright, but since it was a warranty replacement, Dell did no give me that option. So I know the M4600 uses the MXM 3A slot, which unfortunately limits my options significantly. Do I have any options besides the 2000M? I dont need the workstation GPU since this is primarily for gaming. Not to mention the 2000M is going for around $400-500 on ebay. That's a bit steep for the performance boost I'll get going from my 1000M. Also any suggestions on where to purchase MXM 3A cards?

    So to summarize:
    • Any MXM 3A cards better than the 1000M besides the 2000M?
    • Where can I buy MXM 3A cards besides ebay?

so far all I can see is the 2000M as the only possible upgrade due to the limitation of the MXM3 A slot.

Consider you should be able to get $350 - $400 for your 1000m makes the hit a little softer.

I am curious to see if nayone else has any input on this topic as i been considering buying a 4600 and been looking inot GPU options.

Where do you see it for $350-$400? on ebay, I only see 2 listings. One ES model for $450 and another for $500. I'd love to save $100, but I'm still not sure I'd want to plunk down that much for a 2000M. Maybe I'll just save the money for my next laptop upgrade. Maybe when the M4700/6700s come out?

Just checked completed listings...the last couple sold for $255 & $225. That still leaves $300 for an upgrade and that's assuming I can sell mine for as much...minus paypal & ebay fees...

We can only hope. Otherwise, screw it. I'll go back to building desktops. I dont need the mobility anymore.
