Has anyone successfully done this from the Factory.wim file backed up on a DVD-DL disc? Can you walk me through it?

I have tried but have not quite figured it out.

I made a Windows Preinstallation Environment disc with ImageX. I was able to partition and format the SSD, but I don't know if I did it right.

Following a microsoft guide for computers with BIOS, I made a small system partition for boot files and a main partition for Windows (the visible C drive). They also had an example for computers with uEFI that had a third small partition, MBR if I remember correctly. Which is correct for the M6600?

I got the Dell Factory.wim successfully deployed on the main partition (took 17 min) from the DVD-DL I made. However, the WinPE disc did not appear to have the correct boot files for the system partition to boot a 64-bit OS (Windows 7 Ultimate).

There has to be a much easier way to install the factory image file on an SSD. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I should add that I first tried making the recovery discs using the Dell system recovery program (version 1.3). They work fine on the oem drive but give me a "parameter incorrect" or similar error when I tried running them on the SSD.

    Update:
On a whim, I threw the Dell OS disk in and ran the repair utility. Copied over the missing boot files and the sucker runs!

I must not have hidden the small system partition because it shows up as D:. I am wondering now if it was even necessary.

I am going to run imagex one more time and just format the drive as one partition to see if that will work. I will also write down the details of what the OS disc fixes to get the partition to boot.

I'd like to make a script and put it and whatever missing startup files are required) on the windows PE disc to automate all of the dos commands require to pull this off.

Anyone know what files the OS disc might be adding to the partition and where their correct location should be?

Anyone know how to get the dell diagnostic partition on a new drive?
