One of the rubber bumpers on the palmrest of the M6400 came out --- how can it be put back ? Wierdly, it seems that the rubber bumber is longer than its slot. Anyone else encounter the same problem ?

Slide it back in. If you can't you can call Dell, and they will replace your palm rest entirely.

I had the exact same issue on my M6400 and contacted Dell (ProSupport). I had hoped for a replacement bumper, but the solution was to replacement the entire palm rest assembly. It was covered under my warranty. The rubbery part of the bumper is installed on a piece of hard plastic that is welded to the palm rest. I must say the process of replacing the palm rest assembly is a little disturbing as you have to remove almost all of the major components (including the LCD).

I noticed that for Dell business, if something is wrong if a part of the laptop they'll replace the part entirely. I think the idea is that let's say a bottom feet comes out.. you know lets' say bad glue was used. Well what, then.. they'll send you a new pad, ok.. then what.. 2 weeks after the other pads fall off, that's another call.. and so on for every pad.. it's is very annoying for a company or a user. Dell approach is an annoyance, but it's only once, and not the number of pads you have. The upside is that you don't do it, it's a technician that does for you, where any damage the technician does, even if he scratches the system, is covered. So it's doesn't mater one bit. personally I am happy with this approach, you get a nice clean palm rest (in your case), scratch free, without any stickers and all that.... makes the laptop look new.

Anyone successfully slid the bumper back in the slot ? How the heck do they put it in, in the first place ?
