Last night my audio went dead, and I didn't change or install anything.

I've run the diagnostics tool and confirmed that the audio is indeed working, both the internal and the headphone jack.

I'm running Windows 7 x64 and the drivers I'm using are from Dell's driver site, version 6.10.0 6224 dated 03/11/2009

I've tried older drivers but no luck.

I also tried installing the newest drivers for IDT that I found in the "[Drivers] HP dv6 Gen 2 / dv7 Gen 3 / dv8 / HDX16 / HDX18 (INTEL)" thread but they wont install, looks like it's another version of IDT.

The thing is, everything looks like it's working, but when i right click and choose test I get "Failed to play test tone"

No conflicts in device manager either.

Anyone know what's up or where I can find a more recent driver that will work on the vostro?

    /Martin

IDT driver version 6.10.0.6274 dated 4th May 10 is listed on the E6400 Win7-64 downloads.

I'll have a look at that one, see if it works with the 1320, thanks!

    Hi,

you may try a bootable Linux Live CD in order to check if the audio system is really working.
Or did you get some sound when trying the diagnostic tool?

Did you try uninstalling the IDT audio in Device Manager and then ask Windows to search for hardware changes (right click on your computer name at the top of the list in Device Manager)?
