Yes, a keyboard swap is all. Note that there are two types of backlit keyboards for that system, but the difference is cosmetic.

DP/N HT514 is the older part (shipped with E6400/E6500/M4400), and the Fn key icons are all white and can be confusing. DP/N WX4JF is the newer part (shipped with E6410/E6510), with purple Fn key icons.

I would go for the WX4JF, cheapest price on eBay is ~$25.

I've installed a backlit keyboard in mine. Unfortunately the part I received was defective (light tapping of one of the keys caused the contact to get stuck). Other than that, it was a straight swap. Though I am considering going ahead with the WX4JF model above (I had the HT514 before).

By the way, Sphinx, your M4400 has the RGBLED screen right? (judging by your other thread)
Could you run this test on it when you get it:
    - Inversion (pixel-walk) - Lagom LCD test
and tell me if you experience that inversion / pixel-walk / alternating-pixel-lattice effect? My RGBLED screen has been suffering from this since I got it. It's not too big of a deal, but it's certainly noticeable if I pay attention.
I have yet to get a hold of another M4400 RGBLED owner with regards to this.

Here's a video of the effect on my screen:

Ill try my best to test it when it comes in. According to the ad it has the WUXGA RGB screen, and Ill know for sure if its WUXGA and glossy. Its slated for wednesday but Im hoping it will be here tomorrow.

Again to both of you thanks for all the m4400 tips! Cant wait for my new to me beast arrives!
