Hello, I received from DELL a nice machine configuration. I didn't ask the integrated webcam option but they said it was "a gift" . I said thanks to them but since I will use the laptop for professional use like programming I don't think I will need such device. Well, this is really what I should have said to them , I just accepted their "gift" to not sound unpolite. Do you think that if I receive a M4600 machine with a webcam I can just disable it at hardware level? thanks in advance.

simple, just remove the screen bezel, unplug the camera module, and put the bezel back.

by the sound of it the OP is a bit paranoid :p i have a few friends who are like that and i disconnected their webcams for them. only problem is, on some models, and i think the M4600 is one of them....the microphone is part of the webcam module. so you'll have to use and ext mic if you need voice

Just stick some electrical tape over the module.

You can also disable the webcam in the BIOS.
